After creating a VM it was easy to access the VM via the RDP but as soon as I promote this VM as a DC & DNS server it keeps failing to be accessed via the RDP.

I get this error message: "The credentials that were used to connect to 51.140.41.113 did not work"

I尝试下面的用户名：SaffronUK \ Administrator，SaffronUK \ Artin，MYDC1 \ Artin，但都没有用。

I tried below usernames: SaffronUK\Administrator, SaffronUK\Artin, MYDC1\Artin , but none worked.

I had to recreate and re-promote the VM as a DC twice from scratch but same results.

When you promote any server to a domain controller in a new domain, the built-in admin account created when you built the VM is changed to the first domain admin account.

So when you created your VM, if the user you created was called 'user1'.  Then you promoted the VM to a domain controller and called the domain contoso.com (we are on an MS site after all).

The user name you would use is contoso\user1 with the password you used to build the VM.  Once a server is a domain controller, there are no longer local user accounts, it is domain accounts only.

Assuming this is a brand new domain (i.e it isn't joining an existing one where user accounts already exist) then that is how Windows and Active Directory behaves.
