We have a SPD workflow which is just bound to a list. The system is being heavily used and almost 500+ requests are created daily. The problem is per item it creates 3 tasks and task list is reaching 5000 item limit of view threshold quite frequently.
 Because of which spd workflow cannot create task for new items. This is very big limitation because of which sharepoint 2013 workflow offering cant be used for applications like these. Also, to mention this is nothing to do with index columns as i understand
 workflow can create task behind the scene, 
Is there any specific way to get around this apart from deleting tasks every week ? Does anyone know a solution around it ??

Hi Umesh B,
For your request, I recommend you creating retention policy for the content type in task list:
Go to site settings->Content Type Policy Templates->click Create in Policies page->select "Enable Retention"->add a retention stage, in the stage properties dialog box, select retention period and action as below:

In the task list, list settings->Information management policy settings, select the relevant content type and specify a site collection policy:

Besides, we can also disable task list throttling by using PowerShell Commands:
