I purchased Microsoft Project 2016 Standard last week and excitedly got to work setting up my first project file for my small business.
Immediately upon hitting the "Assign Resources" tab the program crashes, restarts, and if I haven't saved - all data is lost. This happens every time - no error message, just searching for the problem, then restarting.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional, Office 365 Home and Project 2016 Standard - all programs updated.
Day one of seeking microsoft support - 2.5 billable hours lost...
Contacted local support(AUS)132058, and from there visited..Business Online Services, Program Development in Canada - spoke to management was put on hold and then automatically, back to local support, back to business support..etc.
Day two of seeking support..1.5 billable hours lost.
Business Support(Maria) - was told can't help because I don't have business 365 domain - call local home support.
Office 365 Home local Support(Ivan) - a commercial tech router??, transferred me to...
Professional Support(Malou) - was told to create an online case at $499 US dollars where support engineers will work on a call back basis, nothing else can be done. I told her I wanted to make a complaint, she said she'd get a supervisor, put me on hold then automatically redirected me back to local home support 132058.
Day three writing this message 20min lost...
Anyone who is a sole trader will understand how precious time is, and how frustrating this is!!
I have spent over AU$1,000 to purchase a product that is not in use as I need it for project management AND budgeting..
...and I'm told I have to spend another US$499 to get any assistance whatsoever.
Can ANYONE from Microsoft support take responsibility for a known functionality issue!(search technet and you'll see it's been an ongoing problem that was supposed to be resolved in the last update release)
Very disappointing Microsoft.

Sorry to hear all the challenges you have faced, this was a known bug; updates got released on February 9, 2016 which suggest that the issue is fixed, please download it - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114714 updates are for Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions
