Microsoft不支持快照。

您需要进行SQL Server备份，如果没有使用PowerShell构建服务器场，则使用Backup-SPFarm -ConfigurationOnly提取服务器场的配置元素。替换服务器场确实需要处于相同的SharePoint修补程序级别

I am planning to write a backup policy for our sharepoint on-premises 2013 & 2016. now i read many articles about best practices and valid approaches that we can follow, so i came up with this backup policy:-

1. Take a snapshot of the sharepoint application server & the sharepoint database server. as in all our architectures we have 2 windows servers (one for the sharepoint application server and the other for the database server).

2. now on some articles it is mentioned that backup-ing sharepoint servers using snapshots is not supported, especially when we have multiple servers (as in our case, where we have one application server and one database server). so in addition to snapshot the servers i am doing a farm backup on daily basis after business hours using this power-shell script:-

$ssa = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -Identity "Search Service Application"
Suspend-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -Identity $ssa
Backup-SPFarm -Directory  \\********\Back -BackupMethod full -BackupThreads 10 -Force
Resume-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -Identity $ssa

3. but since restoring the farm backup (Restore-SPFarm) require to have a farm with the same windows updates patches installed (mainly with the same sharepoint patches installed), then i decide to keep snapshotting the sharepoint servers, so it can be used as a source to know the required sharepoint patches.

so i can see these restore scenarios going on:-

1. First Scenario:- let say the sharepoint application server had a sever damage and we can not turn it on, then we will try to restore the server snapshot, on paper this might work well. but based on MS recommendation; snapshotting the sharepoint servers is not a valid (is not the best) option. if the snapshot did not work, we will build a brand new windows server, install sharepoint , then install the required sharepoint patches. where we can reference the snapshot to know which sharepoint patches we need to install on the new sharepoint server. after installing the required sharepoint updates on the brand new server, i will do a Restore-SPFarm.

2. Second Scenario:- let say the sharepoint database server had a server problem, then we can restore the database server snapshot, if it did not work, we can do a Restore-SPFarm.

so can anyone advice on my above 3 points inside the backup policy + if the 3 backup policy points will be capable to cover the above 2 restore scenarios?

Final note, of course we will need to test the backup policy after finalizing it. we will do this test once a new sharepoint farm is installed and also after updating any of the sharepoint servers (such as patching the sharepoint server will require us to test the backup policy again).

Snapshots are not supported by Microsoft.

You need to be taking SQL server backups and if you did not build your farm with PowerShell, then use Backup-SPFarm -ConfigurationOnly to extract the configuration elements of the farm. The replacement farm does need to be at the same SharePoint patch level but not Windows patch level.
