I have a SharePoint workflow that has a Due Date field and a Requested Extension Date field.

I'm working in SharePoint Designer 2013 but its only set up for SP2010 workflows (no idea why). But what I need to do is set up a workflow that will send a reminder email to the assigned individual for the item at 2 Days, the assigned individual and their manager at 4 Days, and the assigned individual, their manager, and their Director at the 6 Day mark.
On top of that I need to interrupt this progression if an extension is requested and approved in the Requested Extension Date field. Then send reminders based on the dates in the Ext Overdue fields.
What currently happens is the workflow runs and completes immediately but doesn't send the email. I would also like to try and work the 4 Day and 6 Day over due into this as well but my main issue is getting the emails to send properly.

From my understanding you were only seeing 2010 workflow under SPD 2013 that is due to because you haven't configured the workflow Manager Farm. Below is thr article to create a New Workflow farm once that is configured next you have to register with SharePoint farm then you will able to 2013 workflow in SPD 2013.

and regarding on the emails are not being sent that might be several issue. SMTP is one of them. to check outgoing emails are working fine. run the below script to make sure outgoing emails are working fine.
