What are the best practices for pushing updates to Windows Embedded Standard 7 ?

I'm assuming that one would be able to use this solution to update my Windows Embedded Standard 7 thin clients ? I don't do any developing I just use them in production.

Ideally I wanted to find a way to push updates to using WSUS but I've seen mixed reaction some saying that it can't be done and others saying it only works on SCCM.

WEDU is for WES7 image development and is for updating the WES7 distribution share. This allows OEMs that build images to install the OS with updates to their target device.

WSUS and SCCM are used to update domain connected devices. Either should work so long as the right feature packages and agent are in the image. It is best to contact your Thin Client manufacturer to see if they support one or both.
