I was able to duplicate your problem, but the software is working correctly.  In order for you to see why this is happening, you need to display both the date AND the time in the Start and Finish columns.  To do this, click File > Options > General.  Click the Date Format pick list and select the date format that shows both the date and the time, and then click the OK button.  Widen the Start and Finish columns.  What you should see is that the Finish date of task ID #2 is several hours LATER than the Start date of task ID #3.  This means that if you link these two tasks, it will push the Finish date of task ID #3 into the next day.  Hope this helps.
