I am using an Alienware Aurora with factory-installed BIOS version A07 for Kinect development.  I have Windows 7/64.

I've noticed that when the Kinect is plugged into the USB (for example, during a normal boot) my machine will hang 90% of the time loading the BIOS.

So far, the only solution I've found is to unplug the Kinect every time I reboot.  After the machine boots, I can plug Kinect into my backplane USB. It is recognized and appears to function properly.  But if I forget to unplug on reboot, my machine hangs.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?    I would like to know if this a one-off Kinect problem or some sort of incompatibility.

Sounds like an issue with your USB controller. If you have multiple USB ports, try them all and see if it changes. Otherwise, I'd say chalk it up to an odd compatibility issue.
