If I need to export it to Excel in order to generate the chart, It's not gonna worth all the work made on sharepoint. Perhaps it's possible to automate an Excel generation and it's updates, but think about it, if you build a monster like that, who is going
to provide maintenance later?!

Export the list to excel and keep the connection refresh manual. This is stored in the table in excel.
