First off, I have a fully licensed EE3 on my machine. I go download EE4 trial, thinking it will be the free version without the h.264 codecs, but after installation i noticed that it is a fully lincensed EE4 pro version. So does that mean i don't have to go through some other upgrade process?

As it was announced on the Expression website and on the shipping announcement, any fully licensed user of "EE3 with IIS SmoothStreaming" gets a free upgrade to the full version of "EE4 Pro" by simply installing the "free" version.
